Canada and Iran have had no diplomatic ties since 2012. When tragedy struck near Tehran on Tuesday night, and 63 Canadians were killed onboard a plane that went down due to an apparent mechanical failure, the cost of cutting those cords was felt deeply in Canada's Iranian community as families scrambled for scraps of information.
Led by the Iranian-Canadian Congress, many Canadian-Iranians are hoping for a restoration of diplomacy. Will the government listen? Why were so many Iranian-Canadians on board the doomed flight? What is happening in the community tonight, and what will happen in the days to come
GUEST: Younes Zangiabadi, research director, Iranian-Canadian Congress
