In solidarity with the protests happening in our beloved city of Minneapolis and across the world, we will not be releasing an episode this week. We demand justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless others murdered by police. They should be here today and they aren't because of white supremacy and state-sanctioned violence. Not uploading an episode is a moment of silence at best. Typing Black lives matter is not enough. The real work comes when we begin to actively dismantle white supremacy within our communities, our governments, and ourselves. To our listeners who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color: We hear you. We see your grief, anger, and exhaustion. We love you and we will work to ensure that love is manifested in actual actions. To our white listeners: We must not be complicit with racism and murder. We cannot be silent. We must be active participants in the dismantling of white supremacy and systemic racism. If you do not understand why this movement is happening or where the outrage is coming from, it's time to self-educate. It's okay if you are new to this but do not let your discomfort keep you from the truth. We all have the opportunity to grow and do things differently. Lean in. Speak out. Donate. Show up. We've compiled some of our favorite resources that have helped us in our ongoing unlearning of white supremacy. That being said, to quote Rachel Cargle: "Anti-racism work is not self-improvement work for white people. It doesn't end when white people 'feel better.' It ends when Black people are liberated."
