“We got the call on New Year’s Day, 2014: a birth mom had chosen us and we’d been matched. But after my son was home in my arms, my birth mom search wasn’t over. I decided it was time to find the woman who had given birth to me.” Denise Massar – Author of MATCHED: A Memoir As an adoptee and a mom through adoption, Denise Massar has seen the two different worlds of adoption – closed and open. She has experienced a lot throughout her life, especially after going through the process to adopt her son. Now, Denise has written her story – sharing her heart through her book MATCHED: A Memoir. The book is about how Denise and her husband searched for nine months for an expectant mom who was looking to make an adoption plan for her baby – and how the journey to adopt along with the journey to find her own birthmom would change their lives forever. In this episode of the Infant Adoption Guide podcast, Denise tells some of the stories from her life and her book. She shares the emotion, the struggle, and the pure happiness that her and her husband experienced during their adoption journey.
