It's time to jump back into the Universal Soldier saga once again, this time looking at the final (and darkest) installment in the franchise! In this wild nightmarish sequel, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren return once again, this time joining forces (!) and taking a backseat to martial arts sensation, Scott Adkins! Adkins stars as John, a family man who finds himself in the middle of a power struggle between an army of rogue Unisols and the government trying to reclaim control of them. John Hyams also returns to the director's chair once again, and this time he brings in a Lynchian element to the Unisol franchise, combined with Apocalypse Now and The Manchurian Candidate! And if you thought Hyams' vision in Universal Soldier: Regeneration was brutal, Day of Reckoning goes to a whole other level! Joining me to discuss this film is Ben Highton and Alex Balerdi of The Arniethology Presents podcast! Just how different is this installment from the 1992 original? How does Scott Adkins do at taking the reigns of the franchise? How bold is the direction they’re taking JCVD’s Luc Devereaux character? And does this film cross a line in terms of its unrelenting violence?
Join us as Ben, Alex, and I embark on our own day of reckoning and break down Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning! Major thanks to Ben and Alex for joining me!
