Hurricane Beryl is battering southern Jamaica with sustained winds of up to two- hundred- and- thirty kilometres an hour. It may make landfall there in the coming hours. There are reports of power cuts in many places, including the capital, Kingston. The Category Four storm is already causing dangerous winds and a sea surge. The Jamaican prime minister, Andrew Holness, has declared a twelve-hour daytime curfew across the island. The hurricane caused extensive damage on other Caribbean islands. Seven people are known to have died so far. Also in the programme: the UK prepares to go to the polls; and what effect is AI having on the climate?
