Submit ReviewWhy do we refer to some photographs as being quiet? Or, we think of quiet light, which is the title of a John Sexton monograph. There are also photographs that are harmonious, cacophonous, brassy, noisy, symphonic, loud, etc. What is this mysterious relationship between the visual and the audible? I've never heard anyone say that a piece of music is photogenic. Photographs can be sensual, but touch is never referred to as colorful, or tonal, or accurate.
