How to Protect Your Brain From Alzheimer’s and Cognitive Decline | This episode is brought to you by Cozy Earth and Vivobarefoot.

Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most significant global health threats we face today. It is an ailment that, as our population ages, is forecasted to become a worldwide epidemic. Mainstream medicine would have us believe that it can’t be prevented, is untreatable, and progressive, with most patients not surviving beyond three to eleven years post-diagnosis. But that is all being challenged with the work of Dr. David Perlmutter and Dr. Dale Bredesen.

In today’s mini-episode, Dhru speaks with Dr. David Perlmutter and Dr. Dale Bredesen about the latest findings in the field of Alzheimer’s and dementia, including Dr. Bredesen’s study showing that Alzheimer’s disease is reversible. They also discuss what actually drives neuroinflammation and the contributing factors to Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. David Perlmutter is a Board-Certified Neurologist and five-time New York Times bestselling author. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals including Archives of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and The Journal of Applied Nutrition. Dr. Perlmutter’s books have been published in 32 languages and include the #1 New York Times bestseller Grain Brain, The Surprising Truth About Wheat, Carbs and Sugar, with over 1 million copies in print. Other New York Times bestsellers include Brain Maker, The Grain Brain Cookbook, The Grain Brain Whole Life Plan, and Brain Wash, co-written with Dr. Austin Perlmutter. His latest book, Drop Acid, focuses on the pivotal role of uric acid in metabolic diseases, and will be published in February, 2022.

Dr. Dale Bredesen is an internationally recognized expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, and the author of the New York Times bestsellers The End of Alzheimer’s, The End of Alzheimer’s Program and his latest book, The First Survivors of Alzheimer’s: How Patients Recovered Life and Hope in Their Own Words. He has held faculty positions at UC San Francisco, UCLA, and the University of California San Diego. He has directed the Program on Aging at the Burnham Institute before coming to the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in 1998 as its founding president and CEO. He is currently a professor at UCLA.
