Submit ReviewThis week Giles and Robbie interview Anna Mastro to talk about how she built herself up from assistant to established film and tv director, accumulating in her new film Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, streaming now on Disney+.
Anna talks about her start working as a development assistant and script reader for directors McG and J.J. Abrams, working in music videos and television before getting her debut feature Walter made with Milo Ventimiglia, Neve Campbell and William H. Macy.
We also talk directing tv with Anna’s extensive list of TV credits including Shameless, The Bold Type and UnREAL, as well as what it’s like working with a major studio like Disney, shooting a large scale action film, getting your next gig through a colleague - and why Anna used Gladiator and Snatch as unlikely reference points in her pitching process.
