Last week, Allie Casazza and I talked all things podcasting and this week I’m diving deeper into the tech side and giving you all the info you need to launch your podcast and to do it for practically free! All too often people get hung up on the tech side of launching a podcast, but I’m here to tell you that it’s not that difficult to do and it’s worth any kind of learning curve to get your voice out into the world! This episode is just a snapshot of what we’re teaching in Podcasting Confidence. Grab your spot while doors are still open!

Don’t let technology stop you from launching a podcast!

What we’re talking about

  • Recording Your Podcast
  • It’s All About The Music...Intro Music That Is
  • Selecting A Podcast Host

Recording Your Podcast

By now, you know I record from my closet and that’s literally the best place for sound. No need for a fancy studio, your clothes will absorb the echo! No need for big time studio software or equipment either! I share a couple of platforms you can use to record your episodes, but I’m a fan of Garageband for solo episodes and Zencastr for interviews. Looking for a fancy mic? You technically don’t need one, but I love my Blue Yeti that I bought on Amazon.

It’s All About The Music...Intro Music That Is

You know the catchy music you hear when you press play on your favorite podcast? The host chose that music and you get to choose your own as well! I suggest you choose a jingle that reminds you of how you want your listener to feel when they tune in. For my intro and outro music, I wanted something that reminded me of the beach, Jack Johnson and was upbeat. I utilized Audiojungle and it’ll cost you around $25 to download the music you want and have the rights to using it. You can search by type of music genre, tempo, and more.

Selecting A Podcast Host

Your podcast will need a host which will come with an RSS feed. A podcast host is like your middle man and will distribute your episodes to the various podcasting platforms, such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and more. I suggest utilizing Libsyn because they are affordable, easy to use and have literally the best customer service out there. Use code LIFE and you’ll get the rest of your current month and all of next month free!
