The strange story about the time we accidentally went viral for a hoax about Adam Sandler singing the entire Hamilton musical. In 2017, we recorded a weird inside joke bit where an impressionist, Matt Harbert, meticulously re-recorded the entire smash Broadway musical, Hamilton, in his Adam Sandler impression. We posted it online and nobody listened for years. Then, in 2020, out of nowhere, after we'd long forgotten about it, it became a huge viral hit on Tik Tok and Spotify. This is the anatomy of how something goes viral in the modern age of social media, and how you can accidentally create something that resonates with a massive audience years after you thought it would. On today's episode of Deep Cuts, we walk you through the ins, outs, and nitty gritty of a weird viral art project we made called Sandlerton: An Adam Sandler Musical.
