Around this time of year there's a familiar claim – that Australia is one of the most successful multicultural nations in the world. But beyond evidence of more diverse food, and different faiths… where else do we find the wealth of diversity found across this continent? Architectural scholar David Beynon says it pays to look at Australia's built environment for clues. He's a co-curator of a new exhibition called Immigrant Networks, which looks at a phenomenon called trans-Asian-suburbanisation: a term that describes the decades-long process of waves of Asian migrants shaping Australia's urban form.
