Hopes of an imminent ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas are being watered-down this morning. It follows US president Joe Biden raising expectations an agreement could be reached as early as Monday in comments to reporters.

But, a Senior Israeli official briefed on the matter said they didn't know where the President's optimism had come from, while a Hamas official told Reuters his comments were premature.
