Welcome to the VICE Magazine Podcast, your definitive guide to enlightening information. Our monthly podcast is now a weekly podcast. We kicked off our new format last week with a discussion on race and toxic masculinity, and this time around, we have a lighter (and much) beloved topic: The Simpsons. Noisey, VICE’s music site, recently ran a theme week on the intersection of music and TV. It covered everything from Chapelle’s Show to Beavis and Butt-Head and even managed to work in an article on Law & Order’s “dun dun” sound. For the theme week, Dan Ozzi, an editor at Noisey, co-wrote a feature with Alex Robert Ross about the iconic 1996 episode of The Simpsons, “Homerpalooza,” which had tons of rock stars, like the Smashing Pumpkins and Peter Frampton, playing themselves. So we had Dan on the show, to talk about the episode’s relevance and lasting impact.
