The Health and Infrastructure Ministers say the project could blow out to an unaffordable $3 billion and it has to stick to a $1.8 billion budget. The National Party campaigned on promises to deliver the hospital, which will serve Otago and Southland, without any cutbacks. Health Minister Shane Reti spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
