Sen. Kamala Harris announced recently that she is suspending her campaign, the only African-American woman running to unseat Donald Trump, adding to the irony that what started out as one of the most diverse presidential fields in American history, has become dominated by candidates who are white and male. And: Impeachment hearings resume Monday in the House Judiciary Committee, with House Republicans announcing that they will not mount a defense of Trump, even though they have been invited to participate in the process. Betsy Woodruff Swan, political reporter for The Daily Beast, joins AM JOY with more. Plus: Attorney General William Barr made a comment many people have perceived as a veiled threat, during a Justice Department awards ceremony this week, apparently suggesting that American citizens who do not ‘respect’ police might find themselves unprotected by police when they need them. Adam Serwer, writer for The Atlantic, brings his analysis. Then: The House Intelligence report revealed that Rep. Devin Nunes had previously undisclosed phone calls with Rudy Giuliani and his Ukrainian business associate Lev Parnas, who’s been indicted on campaign finance charges. Frank Figliuzzi, former FBI assistant director, joins Joy Reid to discuss. Finally: Amid scrutiny, Giuliani also reportedly traveled to Ukraine recently, and allegedly interviewed people known to spout Kremlin-backed conspiracy theories that target the Bidens. Why? All this and more in this Saturday edition of AM JOY on MSNBC.
