Marlborough's Guardians of the Sounds, want Tory Channel closed off to the Cook Strait ferries, saying they should use the safer - and slower - Northern Entrance into Queen Charlotte Sound instead. At the moment, the ships go through the relatively narrow and winding Tory Channel which cuts about 30 minutes off the voyage between Picton and Wellington. Guardians of the Sounds' chair Pete Beech spoke to Corin Dann.
