Jonathan Overend is joined in the studio by Matthew Etherington and Michael Brown to discuss the shocking scenes as a spectator invaded the pitch during the derby game between Birmingham and Aston Villa. Midfielder Jack Grealish was attacked by a spectator who ran on to the pitch, then hours later Chris Smalling was approached by a fan during Manchester United’s game against Arsenal at the Emirates. The team discuss player safety and what can be done to stop this happening again. Away from that, the fight for the top four is heating up as Arsenal beat Manchester United to go above Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in the league table. Tottenham remain on 61 points in third after they lost against Southampton, but with Arsenal’s win it puts them only one point behind, so the guys discuss if the pressure is on Mauricio Pochettino. Shola Ameobi joins the pod to talk about Raheem Sterling and his incredible form for Manchester City – in particular is hat-trick against Watford. 5 live sport commentator and Football Daily favourite Conor McNamara was at Anfield for Liverpool’s win against Burnley and comes on to talk about that game as Jurgen Klopp’s men keep the pressure on City for the title. And after Callum Wilson and James Ward Prowse shine for their respective teams over the weekend the team look at who could be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the up-and-coming Euro 2020 qualifiers. Not only that Mathew, Michael and Shola share their surprise over the sacking of Darren Moore as manager of Championship side West Brom.
