With carbon emissions being one of the main contributors to climate change, the American government has spent years trying to properly gauge the gas’ social impact. And in order to better understand the impact of federal regulation to curb emissions, the Obama administration tried to calculate the social cost of carbon. Now, President Biden’s government wants to update this cost to reflect the latest scientific data.
