The Nats won their first series in June after topping the Padres 8-3 on Sunday afternoon in California. Gore pitched well, but had to exit after 5 IP due to a high pitch count (104). His final pitch of the game was Strike 3 on Juan Soto, which defined the day as Gore K'd Soto in all three at bats. Joe La Sorsa (a LHP!) had the biggest out of all to end the Padre threat in the 6th after relieving a struggling Mason Thompson.
