RADICAL INCLUSIVITY Episode 41 Part Three Front Porch 468 E.Foothill Boulevard San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 We are back again this week for the third, and final episode, at Front Porch Coffee on the campus of Cal Poly Tech in San Luis Obispo, California.  Join us again this week as the Roadshow goes back to college. Our first guest Annalisa initially came for the free coffee, then found out she could have a free meal, and the rest, my friends  as they say, is history. A common refrain we heard during our wonderful time at this "coffee shop" was about the welcoming pull you in atmosphere. You may start out looking for one thing and come out the other side as a staff member! Annalisa responded to a literal and figurative knock on the door as a young girl, that truly changed her life. Can someones ask for help, turn into a complete change in character? We find out how shyness can  be a skill set.  What if you think you are not good at anything?  Find out about the positives of  what may be an often overlooked hidden talent. What would your definition of the word "significant"  be?  Annalisa shares with us her insights, how significance was defined for her, and what she didn't want to be known for. Quick, if you are living in a third world country, what would be the thing that you would what to change first? The answer from a woman in Burma/Myanmar when asked will likely come as a complete (but logical) surprise. It may make you reconsider your world view. How many people do you know that started any college, much less the elite halls of Cal Poly Tech at the age of 16? Our next guest Joe shared the ups and downs of starting an advanced degree, at a young age and not in your native country. You may think someone at this level of intelligence automatically has it made, but you will learn a lesson in the downside of admission to college at a young age.  How did he learn to survive when his parents and relatives were in different countries? Front Porch and an unlikely "club" played a key role to college life success.  Fabulous story that shows its not just about having the "smarts" to get in.  As they say ...then what? Our last guest Sam compares Front Porch to an episode of Friends, at Central Perk. Generationally, we compared it to Cheers. Nonetheless it is a place where you want to have a beverage, share your stories and (if you want) everybody knows your name. OK be honest your humming that tune right now, either Cheers theme or Ill be there for you.                                                                          You must add... so no one told you life was gonna to be this way ..clap,clap,clap,clap. And if for some reason you don't have it down, Check out our Spotify playlist In most places of higher learning you are identified by your major, but at Front Porch you are identified by something entirely different. The answer may surprise you. Sam shares a moving, and very personal event in his life that helped shaped him into the man he has become today. "If you are willing to get your hands dirty" you may discover you have the power to help other people. Sam graduated two days after our interview. What is he doing now? Does it involve working in a corporation in silicon valley? Teaching? or something not at all related to his major. Habitat for Humanity, working in a kitchen, farming? Listen, and be inspired. Could you go off the grid? We will be keeping tabs on this amazing man, who is about helping to change the world. Make sure to check out the musical suggestions from our guests, this week at Front Porch on Spotify. http://bit.ly/CCCRSfrontporch Remember if you have a question,or topic you want us to follow up on from this weeks, or any other episode of the CCCRS,we are happy to try to get that done in the segment we call Free Refills.
