She's played for Brian May, she's been involved in the Queen's Christmas Broadcast, she's been a Paraclimbing World Champion, she's had to re-learn how to walk and she's taught herself how to run. If that isn't enough, she's also a Paratriathlon World Champion. Yet this still only scratches the surface of the remarkable British Paratriathlete, Fran Brown.

You'll hear:

07:45 Her amazing and very varied background in music and sport

16:25 How she went about re-learning how to walk and stand, following her spinal cord injury when she was working as a lighting technician in the West End.

22:50 Fran explains how she returned to climbing, even though she thought it was impossible and how she progressed to being multiple World Champion "I started climbing again, even though I thought it was impossible at the time"

32:30 How a talent ID day at British Triathlon opened the doors for Fran. I was swimming, I was cycling and I thought 'running can't be that hard'

34:30 The measures Fran went to in order to teach herself how to run. "Try it, film it. I can't learn by feeling, I have to learn by watching" I can walk very fast or I can run but I'm too imbalanced to go at that in between speed. I fell over loads basically.

"I was on the team for 2 years before I could run a 5km without a walk break"

40:33 Her hatred of the words can't or shouldn't. "If I think there is a tiny chance I can, I will still try. What's the worst that can happen?"

46:15 Her Paralympic hopes, even though she hasn't been in a pool for a year because she is on the clinically vulnerable list. My focus is training and it gives me the structure I need.

51:40 Being diagnosed with Crohn's disease and having surgery in August 2020 and a stoma fitted. "As much as I didn't want a stoma fitted initially, it's actually really helped."

"Define bad. I see it as a challenge I can learn from."
