This time around they discuss Perry's 2010 film adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1975 original choreopoem "for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf" now shorten to "For Colored Girls." The film chronicles the intersecting stories of several Black women dealing with issues of love, abandonment, rape, infidelity, and abortion. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Thandiwe Newton, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose, Tessa Thompson, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray.
