Architecture is one of many professions spread thin across regional Australia, with big city firms often called in to design buildings that bear little resemblance to what communities need or want.  But this is changing for the residents of the regional NSW town of Corowa. In 2017, architect Phillip Nielsen and his partner established their architecture firm, the Regional Design Service, in the centre of town. Nielsen joins Blueprint to discuss the challenges and rewards of setting up a country practice, and how architects can help de-mystify design in places where it’s been missing in action.
