"Racial resentment has been a winning political strategy" in the past, but journalists are sometimes reluctant to call it what it is, Farai Chideya tells Brian Stelter. Chideya and Stelter discuss the coverage of white supremacist ideology; the importance of knowing "your political history;" and the need for a truly "integrated political press." And Stelter asks Chideya to answer a question she posed: "Is the political press better prepared to cover the weaponization of race and national origin in 2020 than it was in 2016?"
