Born in Portugal, Raquel Nuno and her family moved to the US when she was 11. Raquel was always interested in science but life had other plans and she joined the US Air force, supported her family when her father fell sick and after the air force, found her way into STEM through community colleges in LA. Today she is working on her PhD in Planetary Geology at UCLA and is working on NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter mission. She has two sons and both were born during her grad school years.
