Submit ReviewIn Episode 52 of Far From Finished, Jerrod talks about the importance of providing the best treatment possible for those afflicted by addiction. Jerrod believes that providing the best quality of care means assembling the right teams. This means having good therapists and good staff that a client can relate to. It’s all about setting a good tone from the very beginning.
The post Jerrod appeared first on American Addiction Centers.
Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, Jerrod’s whole life was defined by addiction. His mother was a heroin addict and alcoholism ran rampant in his family. Because using was so socially acceptable where he grew up it became a natural path for him to abuse. As time went on Jerrod saw how devastating addiction was in his family. He got clean at the very young age of 21. He’s been clean for 23 years.
Achieving sobriety through a 12-Step Program which he considers an enlightening and fulfilling process, Jerrod’s life working in addiction recovery began when his mother, who is now sober, started her own drug rehab in California. From answering phones to talking to families, Jerrod has done every job that you can think of at a facility. Throughout the years Jerrod has talked to thousands of people who are contemplating treatment. He understands that it can be scary, but he also knows that there's a whole world out there where people aren’t dependent on substances. That world, that better life, is waiting for them.
Jerrod has been and will continue to be in recovery for a long time. He’s seen a lot of people relapse and seen the bad things associated with it. For Jerrod there’s no secret formula to achieving recovery. It’s about muscling through it and taking it one day at a time.
