Gordon Dunning is an Atlanta, GA based boutique interior design firm founded by two lovers of story, history, travel, and classic designs injected with color.   Once upon a time, our great, great, grandfather Gordon Dunning, milled exquisite wool tartans in the Highlands of Scotland. These textiles instilled a love for design in our hearts…Okay, that’s untrue.   Alternatively, our real story began in the not-so-faraway land of Nandina Home Design where we first became a design team. We quickly realized that we were in it together for the long haul. In 2014, GordonDunning was born.   Although we certainly have our own design aesthetics (We are designers after all!) that we infuse into our projects, it is our goal to keep your personal story at the forefront of any design. We create spaces for you to illustrate tales of your past adventures, to share current interests, and to create new memories.   The duo has been featured in publications such as Atlanta Homes Lifestyles, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Southern Style, and Southern Lady.  They were recently recognized as "designers to watch" by ADAC, and they have been honored to participate in the Southeastern Designer Showhouse Gardens  and Charleston Symphony Orchestra League's Showhouse.  They were also just invited to be part of the prestigious Southern Living Designer Network.   LATHEM GORDON, MFA, Allied ASID Lathem traveled a winding path to the design world.  After earning her degree in Visual Arts from Presbyterian College, Lathem worked in higher education as Assistant Director of Admissions and Admissions Counselor, in graphic design, and in politics as a campaign manager. Upon realizing that interior design brought together two of her greatest passions – design and people – she decided to pursue a career in the field. After earning her MFA at SCAD and a certificate from EF Spanish Language Program in Barcelona, Lathem worked with both commercial and residential clients at DDM Designs in Savannah, Georgia and Nandina Home Design and KMH Interiors in Atlanta, Georgia. Her global experiences, artistic flare, and attentiveness to detail are consistently evident in her designs.  She has also been a guest designer on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition and HGTV’s Unsellables. Lathem lives in Decatur, Georgia with her husband, Jason, and their two darling daughters, Dargan and Mance.   CATE DUNNING, Allied ASID Cate was drawn to interior design early in her life. In fact, as a toddler, the only thing that could calm her mid-tantrum, was wallpaper. Thank God she was a child of the 80s! Cate has a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Georgia Southern University. Her experience goes much further than providing design services. From working in a showroom to running an international fabric line, she has worked in various sectors of the design industry. Following her transition to full-time design, Cate worked as a designer at Nandina Home Design and KMH Interiors. Cate is an Allied member of ASID and loves being  a part of the Atlanta interior design community! Cate is a student and lover of history, which often serves as inspiration in her design. She has a deep-founded respect for older structures. She often layers architectural elements, heirlooms, photographs, artwork, and textiles to create a unique mix of styles. Cate is a native Atlantan. She currently lives in Decatur in her Mother’s childhood home with her new husband, Chris, their cocker spaniel, George, and their dachshund, Gibson.
