In 2001, Heather Garrett moved to Durham, NC from New York City, where she had attended Parsons for interior design while working as a fly on the wall for the firm of French designer Robert Couturier. The change prompted Heather, who then began working on her own in North Carolina, to fine-tune an ability to merge a variety of interior styles and settings… from French Modern to Southern Traditional. With a clientele often drawn to southern American architectural elements, but hoping for a modern flair, she has developed an accessible, signature style. Though her project reach includes clients from Dallas to San Francisco, Heather feels that the genre emerging in her work could easily be called The Modern South. Her work has earned her the honor of being named a “Creative Class” member by Garden Gun, and a “New Traditionalist” by the editors of Traditional Home Magazine, and has been published by those including House Beautiful, Food Wine, Rue Magazine, and blogs such as My Domaine and "I Suwannee". She is honored to be a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, and is excited about her upcoming residential design partnership with CKS Architectural Millwork, called "The Living Kitchen".
