Douglas Burdge, AIA, is principal of Burdge Architects Associates, Inc. (BAA), an international architectural, planning and consulting firm based in Malibu, California.   Burdge and BAA are recognized for a variety of architectural styles, including Rustern (a term he copyrighted meaning Rustic-Modern), Spanish Mediterranean and cutting edge contemporary.   Early in his career, he designed vacation properties in Los Cabos and has expanded his work in the hospitality field, designing award winning boutique hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and private clubs. Each property reflects the unique character of the area and provides a sense of comfort and community.  Whether it’s the coast, mountains or desert, he knows how to design properties to take advantage of the natural surroundings.   Burdge has a well-earned reputation as the signature architect of Malibu, where his firm has designed and built more than 200 high-end estates for notable clients including entertainment moguls, politicians and Fortune 500 CEOs.   BAA projects have been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Veranda, Robb Report, Los Angeles Confidential and Traditional Home. In addition to receiving several "Home of the Year" Golden Nugget awards, his residential work in Sun Valley has consistently landed his firm on Mountain Living Magazine’s annual Top Mountain Architects Interior Designers list.   Burdge graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art.  He and his wife also own a popular home décor store in Malibu - the Malibu Beach House.
