Have you ever wondered how live music is beneficial to your mental health? In this three-part series, Taraleigh and Leah ask live music fans, musicians, and people in the industry questions about what live music means to them, how it affects their mental health, and to share a recent memorable experience with live music.

In this episode, they dive into the question “How has the return of live music affected your mental health?” First, we hear from musicians and industry personnel including Ryan Dempsey from Twiddle, Eric Gould from Pink Talking Fish and Marble Eyes, Jeremy Kaplin and Brian Murray from Dogs in a Pile, and Brett Wilson from Roots of Creation, and others. Then we ask fans the same question.

It is clear from both that live music in our current atmosphere is double-sided, evoking stress but also providing benefits to mental health. Also evident is that while the music is playing, nothing else matters and all is right with the world and that for those interviewed, makes it all worth it. In true Groove Therapy fashion, Dr. Leah links research throughout on things like positive emotions, finding a sense of harmony in life, and connection with others to illuminate the reason behind the experiences being expressed.
