TAWF Talk

Normally, we don’t get political on this show. However, the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi has become one of the biggest pieces of the top story in professional wrestling. His disappearance at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul has made people wonder if WWE will carry on with their Crown Jewel event in early November. As we discussed on the show before, Saudi Arabia is paying WWE comical amounts of money to put on huge shows there. WWE has gone so far as to do promos (or propaganda) for how wonderful Saudi Arabia is.

The Wrestling Observer has reported that many of the production crew and talent do not wish to go to Saudi Arabia. Several older wrestlers like JBL, Randy Orton, and Kevin Nash have said that WWE needs to go to Saudi Arabia to honor their contract and promote change in the country. With WWE promoting the event without explicitly saying Saudi Arabia, it will be interesting to see how the event plays out.
