We’re back in the closet and kicking off Season 2 to talk about why the word ‘feminist’ can bring up some negative connotations. Even if you’re someone who believes in gender equality, stereotypes of the angry bra-burning lesbian, myths like men ‘losing’ rights, and worries about potentially doing feminism ‘wrong’ can make it difficult to identify as a feminist. We also talk about whether or not it’s important to identify with the term, and grapple with the idea of what role performative feminism has on the movement.
