In our second “Am I Crazy or Am I Just Raving” Podcast we discuss how “I Will” faded from the Henry’s Child Set List for a long time and became the number one fan-requested song from “Mumbles and Screams”. “I Will” also had the most amount of changes and additions from any other original song, all the way from a Korn-esque metal intro to the induction of Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”.

We discuss why “I Will” was often referred to as the “Angry Positive Reinforcement Song”. Andrew discusses the duality of Will, telling his personal definition that is a blended meaning: A declaration of Action and having the power and strength to overcome something (especially a personal challenge). Along with this double-meaning is the intensity and fierceness of being a commitment to change.

We then have a deep discussion about Jeff Reilly’s unique drum beats and how the drums construct the build-up of the song, beautifully landing this tune from chorus to outro.

To wrap it up, we discuss making change and transformation in your life. How the internal versus external struggle occurs and is addressed in the song “I Will”. This is Andrew’s personal challenges being the two verses of the song and the “How to” as the outro of the song. It is fierce because change, at some level, is (not easy) but yet incredibly simple.
