Charlotte Flair’s ruptured implant

The implant ruptured before WrestleMania, but Flair worked through it, so she could wrestle Asuka. She did a shoot for the ESPN Body Issue recently where the photographers shot around the ruptured implant. She’s set to have a procedure done to fix the damage after the European tour, which means she’ll be removed from the Money in The Bank match. (Wrestling Observer)

Another Florida WrestleMania

The Tampa Bay Sports Commission is currently bidding to attract WrestleMania to Tampa for the first time.  The hope is to host the event at Raymond James Stadium in 2023, 2024, or 2025. Last year in Orlando, WrestleMania 33 brought in a reported $181.5 million to the local economy.  If the event is held in Tampa, it will be the fourth WrestleMania for the state of Florida in 15 years. (Fox 13 Tampa)

Since the inception of WrestleMania, the following states have held the event:

  • California: 6
  • New York: 4
  • New Jersey: 4 (counting WM35)

Roman Reigns as an underdog?

WWE is looking to position the three-time world champion as an underdog, in the vein of Daniel Bryan. Dave Meltzer spoke about this on his radio show:

“They’re trying to tell the story and I can’t believe it because they’ve been trying for a couple of months, but they’re still trying to tell the story that [Roman Reigns] is Daniel Bryan and management is screwing him over and that’s why he’s not the champion. But nobody buys it. They’re trying to figure out a way to get people to cheer him. We’re supposed to think that all these things that happened — the whole thing that they favor Brock Lesnar but it didn’t work. I guess for whatever reason even though it didn’t work nobody has a better idea so that’s what they’re going with.”
