In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation week, Sept 12-18, we wanted to provide context around an industry that is vital to our lives. But it’s been estimated that over the next 10 years, the trucking industry will need to hire roughly 1.1 million new drivers, or an average of nearly 110,000 per year according to a report published in July of 2019 by the ATA (American Trucking Association). In this episode, Jill Clifford, President at FreightPlus, joins the show to talk about impact the aging workforce has on capacity and what is being done about it. In this conversation Jill provides context around:

  • The scope of the impact
  • Factors that contribute to the problem
  • Potential programs to re-energize the sector
