As you know, both Jessica and Non are language nerds, so it was such an honor to have Kory on the show to delight us with her knowledge of language, relaying stories about working as an editor at Merriam-Webster, her favorite swear words, and writing her new book (out in March 2017 and available for pre-order now!) Word By Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries! 

We discuss Kory's origin story with words, growing up speaking German, studying language at an early age, how George Orwell's 1984 got her wheels turning, falling in love with language, prescriptivism vs. descriptivism, and so much more word-nerdy goodness!
