Today's episode we got up with @nadirah.p and talked on everything from Muslim women in Comedy to using social platforms to help tell the African American narrative. This young woman is truly an inspiration to her community and uses her talent of humor to tell real and relevant stories. Sister Nadirah hung out with us and talked on her experience of wearing the khimar and her experience of feeling comfortable and empowered to be a visible Muslim woman. She stressed the importance of solidarity amongst Muslim women in wake of the rise of Islamophobia in the States, making many Muslimahs feel the need to remove their hijab. We also learned that Nadirah is very committed to making content that her community specifically can resonate with. In the Muslim community, many stories are told from the Arab or white Muslim perspective. Seeing this, she decided that her content would be specifically aimed at her community that she knows from experience. However that doesn't stop her from making great content that people from many cultures, backgrounds, and ethnicities can relate to and enjoy. We surprisingly talked about the issue of men being held in abusive relationships/ marriages, a topic that was seriously jaw dropping! 😱 She opened up our minds to a variety of things that we never would have thought were actually real issues in our communities, Muslim and non-Muslim. .This is one of our funniest episodes yet 😂 and we really hope yall enjoy it!! Please subscribe & love yall!!
