Submit ReviewIn Episode 024, we sit down with Tom Marshall — Phish lyricist & longtime friend of Trey Anastasio — for a wide-ranging discussion about his songwriting, his musical influences, and the stories behind a number of great Phish songs.
Part I focuses on Tom’s impressions of Phish at this point during 3.0, as well as some of our burning questions for him. We discuss the music that Tom got into during the Phish break-up of 2004–2009. We also lay the groundwork for our lengthy conversation in Part II. Finally, we discuss one of our favorite songs of Phish 3.0 — “Mercury” — and are treated to an unreleased demo of the song.
