At the height of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fame we get what should’ve been his biggest hit ever. A film that appeals to not only Arnold’s action fueled fan base and all lovers of testosterone, machismo and explosions, but also the kid and family fan base he cultivated through films like Kindergarten Cop and T2. Yes T2, thanks Furlong. Instead, Last Action Hero was a box office disappointment, mostly due to terrible marketing decisions like opening the week after Jurassic Park. LAH was a tonally confusing blunder in the eyes of many critics, failing to get the laughs it was striving for. But like all things Arnold, this film has developed a loyal fanbase and over the years has gained a reputation as a misunderstood action/comedy classic. In this episode of VIA VHS Rewind Review.
