This week on the show, we're diving back into the twisted world of Paul Verhoeven and his biting social satire/giant bug sci-fi actioner STARSHIP TROOPERS!

SYNOPSIS: Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Rico’s military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as “the Bugs”.

Much derided upon release, over the last 20+ years, Verhoeven's film has found new life as a clever send-up of fascism, the American military complex, gender politics and more. We'll delve into all of these themes as well as provide some little-known information about the film's creation!

And of course, we also discuss whether or not it belongs in the Psychotronic Hall of Fame, a decision that we leave up to our listeners.

Theme song: “Foreign Body” by the Slasher Film Festival Strategy from their album PSYCHIC SHIELD. More info: slasherfilmfestivalstrategy.bandcamp.com
