The year is 2012 and the nominees are:
1. Jessica Chastain - The Help
2. Melissa McCarthy - Bridesmaids
3. Bérénice Bejo - The Artist
4. Janet McTeer - Albert Nobbs
5. Octavia Spencer - The Help
In 2012 Octavia Spencer won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for The Help. The famous line ‘eat my shit’ is hilariously iconic and makes me laugh to this day. Jessica Chastain was also a first time nominee for The Help (maybe a third time for The Eyes of Tammy Faye?). Janet McTeer gave one of my favourite performances in Albert Nobbs opposite Glenn Close playing, what I would assume, would be described as a trans man in our modern day. Bérénice Bejo was nominated for a recent fav ‘The Artist’ playing a new movie star with the introduction of ‘talkies’ during the early 1930’s. And of course Melissa McCarthy’s performance was nominated for her hilarious work in Bridesmaids (no! Megan no!).
