We are all the lead characters of our own stories. This week, Sheri and Nancy talk about the idea that each of us has the power to craft our own personal brand stories — that magical alchemy of who you are and who you want to become. It’s a story built on vision, fueled by bravery, and in service to your biggest, boldest dreams.

Parts of your brand story might be that you create a beautiful sanctuary in your home, so that it rises up to greet you every day. Or maybe you dedicate yourself to a daily practice of mindfulness with meditation and yoga. Your brand story might be a combination of many things — your health and wellness program, your happiness compass, your love plan. Whatever goals we set, actions we choose, frame of mind we inhabit — these things end up creating our present and future brand story.

Speaking of brands, Sheri and Nancy announce that This is Fifty with Sheri and Nancy is now their official public-facing brand, so be sure to follow @thisisfiftysn on all social media platforms to see what they’re up to as they go about living their Pillar Life and making their dreams come true.

Takeaways:

[2:20] Sheri takes a trip down memory lane and remembers having liposuction back in 2000. Nurse Nancy was there to help her through the recovery. It was so painful and traumatic they think they both blocked it out.

[7:17] Sheri and Nancy’s new public-facing brand is This is Fifty with Sheri and Nancy, thanks to the success of this podcast!

[11:30] When Nancy, who is a brand strategist, works with brands and organizations, she encourages them to be firmly rooted in the present but simultaneously looking toward the future. If businesses have brand pillars in place and a framework in mind, the road becomes much clearer. The same is true for your personal brand.

[14:39] Dream the biggest dream you can. The key ingredient to telling your story of transformation and dreams is bravery.

[20:02] If you can see yourself as the main character in your own story, and love that character unconditionally, doors will open that normally would have stayed shut if you viewed everything with a critical eye.

[24:56] Nancy shares some of her “brand whisperer” tactics. The first thing she asks brand leaders is “what is the biggest dream you have for your brand?” and “how do you wish you could describe it?”

[29:11] Nancy and Sheri think women are particularly great at noticing what they like in other women -- what inspires them, what they want to incorporate into their own lives. If you tell yourself the right aspirational story and surround yourself with like-minded women, it’s all about admiration.
