Welcome to Episode 2031, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Sarah Kemp in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast. Sarah Kemp, a British woman who was Head of Decanter Magazine for 25 years, is now running The Wine Conversation podcast. She has an incredible career and is a very strong woman in the wine industry.
More about today’s guest:
Sarah Kemp was the Publisher and Managing Director of Decanter for over a quarter of a century, leading the re-shaping of the company for the modern media age. She founded
www.decanter.com,
decanterchina.com, the Decanter World Wine Awards, the world's largest wine competition, and Europe's and China's premier wine events, The Decanter Fine Wine Encounter and the Decanter Shanghai Fine Wine Encounter.
From the age of sixteen when she was given the second edition of Hugh Johnson's book "Wine Companion" she has been fascinated by the world of wine, and has travelled from Bordeaux to Brazil, Australia to Argentina, Napa to Ningxia, discovering the vineyards and the people behind the labels.
She presented the US TV series "New American Cuisine" and was nominated for a James Beard Award. She launched the podsite "The Wine Conversation" in December 2020, which has been described as "essential listening for the intelligent wine lover" by Decanter Magazine. She lives today between the Scottish Borders and London, and is trying to age as gracefully as some of the wines in her cellar.
