Welcome to episode 1993 of the Italian Wine Podcast, Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon. Today, he is interviewing Jacopo Gubert of Ager Patris The winery is awarded the Best Biodynamic Sparkling Wine 2024 Trophy for Asolo Prosecco Docg Superiore Spumante Dosaggio Zero Sui Lieviti Vino Biologico 2022, in Wine Without Walls, a section of 5StarWines – the Book wine selection in 2024 More about today’s winery: Ager Patris, located in the picturesque region of Santa Maria in Colle, Treviso, is a remarkable estate dedicated to cultivating vines with the utmost respect for natural balances. This unique location produces organic Asolo DOCG Prosecco and Rosé sparkling wine from Raboso grapes, offering a delightful taste of tradition and innovation. The history of Ager Patris stretches back over two millennia, rooted in a land that once hosted a pre-Roman villa. Archaeological excavations have unearthed vases, amphorae, and jewelry from both pre-Christian and medieval times, adding a layer of historical richness to the estate. The decision to preserve this historically significant area, situated at the heart of the estate, underscores a commitment to protecting and honoring the past. This dedication is reflected in the name "Ager Patris," which translates from Latin to "the land of the father." This name not only signifies respect for history but also symbolizes a legacy that the estate aims to pass on to future generations.
