Welcome to Episode 1446, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews Viviana Malafarina in this installment of Voices, on the Italian Wine Podcast. About today’s guest: Basilisco was founded in the early nineties aiming immediately at the highest quality, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and in a few years it became a jewel of the southern wine scene. At the beginning of 2011 the Feudi di San Gregorio company, present in the Vulture for over ten years, decided to start a recovery project of the ancient lava caves in the "Shesh", the historic Barile Cantine Park, relaunching the bet with conviction made on this area of exceptional viticultural value which culminates with the acquisition of the nearby Basilisk. With its splendid cellars in the tuff and its vineyards in the most suitable districts of the area, Basilisco completes this project. Thus was born a space of enchanting beauty in the historic heart of Aglianico del Vulture. The face and soul of Basilisco is Viviana Malafarina, who manages the company and takes care of the cellar operations personally and with great passion, under the expert guidance of Pierpaolo Sirch, who is also responsible for vineyard management.
