Welcome to Episode 1406 in which Marc Millon interviews Elena and Eleonora Charrère from Les Cretes
More about today’s guests:
Elena and Eleonora's family has been operating in the agricultural sector in the Aosta Valley for 6 generations. Thanks to the foresight of Eleonora's father, Costantino, in the mid-1950s, produced the first bottles of Cru La Sabla that were put up for sale. In 1989 Les Crêtes was founded.
In 2007, together with some Aosta Valley producers, Elena and Eleonora founded the Valle d'Aosta delegation of Women of Wine.
Les Crêtes ‘ winery is located in the scenic Aymavilles area of the Aosta Valley.
Their Vineyards are spread over 20 hectares among parcels in six different villages, and planted in both indigenous vinifera varieties (Petite Arvine , Petit Rouge, Prëmetta , Fumin , Mayolet , Cornalin), as well as the more traditional vinifera varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Muscat). The soils that have developed over the centuries on the glacial morain hillsides around Aymavilles are composed of a mixture of sand and calcareous rocks.
