Welcome to episode 1348, another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. In this episode Stevie is speaking with Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, a legendary lady of the Caparzo Winery. More about today's guest: Of Bolognese origins, but born and raised in Rome, Elisabetta does not come from a family of wine producers. Passionate about history, art and archaeology, however, she has always cultivated a passion for the countryside – her Bolognese ancestors cultivated peaches and maize – and, after working as a film producer in partnership with Luca Barbareschi, at the fateful 40 she finally fulfilled the dream of his life: to devote himself to the land by starting, almost by chance, to produce wine. The story begins in 1997 with the purchase of Borgo Scopeto in the Chianti Classico area , between Siena and Vagliagli . The Borgo, which today is a relais de charme called Borgo Scopeto Relais , is so spectacular that it was chosen by director Gary Winick to set part of his film "Letters to Juliet", starring Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero . The film, released in 2010 , surprisingly climbed the US charts : the presence, in a scene of the film, of Brunello Caparzo, positively influenced sales in the United States. But Borgo Scopeto is also a large farm that produces Chianti Classico and an excellent extra virgin olive oil .
