On January 15, 1947, a gruesome discovery was made in a vacant lot in south Los Angeles. It was the nude body of a young woman, severed into two pieces at the waist. She would soon be identified as Elizabeth Short, but in what has gone down as one of the most famous unsolved murders in L.A. history, she will forever be known as The Black Dahlia.
