More about Today guest moderator: Half Welsh, half Italian. Born and bred in Puglia I’m now settled in Cardiff where I’ve been for the past 4 years. After graduating in 2012 from Aberystwyth University in Business and Management with Spanish, It was a simple wine course back in 2013 that sparked my passion for wine and I now hold the AIS certification as a Sommelier, level 3 WSET, and recently qualified as an Italian Wine Ambassador with the VIA Accademy. I have extensive experience in the sector including time with the award winning Australian winery ‘Jim Barry Wines’ as well as dedicating the last 5 years to the promotion of wines from Puglia around the globe. My passion is now my job, and I now run my own company, WinesnVines, with the aim to import and distribute wines from Italy in the UK market, focusing on smaller producers and native varieties from Italy. I recently founded and organised the 1st edition of the Cardiff Wine Festival. I’m a real wine enthusiast and always on the hunt for new varieties! To open a bottle has a lot of meanings for her, from her early days as a student in Perugia, where she completed a Masters in Tecniche di abbinamento con bevande speciali” As a young Professional Sommelier she completed numerous wine courses and she is presently the owner and manager of Cantina La Marchesa, together with her husband Sergio. She looks after all the marketing and has a very personal approach to it, creating the brand “I love Melograno”, to promote their rosé wine, the 1st rosé wine made from Nero di Troia in the Daunia region. Marika promotes her wines uniting the production area, the culture and the beauty of her region, dedicating her body and soul to the goals she intends to achieve, with great enthusiasm and with a very personal philosophy of life, reflecting all her knowledge onto the business Today, Cantina La marchesa is present all over the world, and over the years Marika has achieved numerous prestigious awards.
