Marion Cotillard became the first French actress to win an Academy Award for a French language speaking role. She was up against Ellen Page for Juno and Julie Christie for Away From Her; two films with deep Canadian roots. During the award season it mostly came down to Cotillard vs. Christie as Christie won the SAG and The Golden Globe. Other nominees included Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age, becoming the first female to receive multiple nominations for playing the same role. And, last but not least, Laura Linney for The Savages - her only real recognition for this role as she did not receive a Golden Globe or BAFTA Nomination. Join host Kyle Brownrigg with guest Daniel Krolik (co-host of Bad Gay Movies podcast) as they discuss who they thought should have won and why.
